Weekly Training (13 May 2016)

It was our first training and we are having a House System Games ,I felt that the activities that we did were good as we can have this time to bond with our juniors. For example, of the game named 'Duck Duck Goose' we kept on increasing the level of difficulty by calling the person name and point at someone else. This was a really fun bonding experience with our juniors, getting closer with them like a big family.

NPAP 2016

Being a part of NPAP is already a big big deal let alone being in the Guard of Honour! I was very anxious as I felt that the trainings were few and lenient. The trainers were not strict enough and the trainings started to be unproductive as we started to slacken off. We only came to realise that the ability to don the ceremonial attire is one of the biggest milestones being in a UG group. One that everyone wants to achieve. Not just  the uniform, but the pride I felt being able to represent my school in the GOH is glorious and overwhelming. Seeing my school flag fly while Ain held it with such glory and honour made me march with my head held even higher. It was a honourable experience to be able to represent my school in a prestigious parade and I would never forget the words "Honour and Unity".

After going for the NPAP, I felt that the parade was worth going for. Although the duration was very short, the perfomers managed to do a great job in only that little amount of time. The sight of our seniors giving commands in the parade gave me a sense of pride as I felt that it is a privilege to take part in such an event. I would like to be perform in the parade as well, as I would get to share my experiences with my squadmates and also with my peers. This experience will also help me bond with other cadets from other schools as well as other areas.

Inter-Unit Drill Competition 2013

I felt that going through the vigorous drill competition trainings during the month of june and july was quite intense. However, my squad mates and I definitely learnt a lot from it. From the different trainings after school hours and during the holidays, to the scoldings from all the various cadet inspectors, I felt that it was a fun and memorable experience. Also, not only that the trainings that me and my squad mates had had let us clarify and improved our proficiency in foot drills, uniform preparations but also, most importantly, allowed us to bond together as a squad. Throughout the trainings, I was given an additional role as the timer of my squad. During the competition on the actual day, I was quite nervous but I did not want the others to know about it. And so, I gave my best by shouting my timings loud and clear because I do not want to disappoint any of my teacher officers, cadet inspectors and the rest of the unit.

In my mind, I was just hoping that our school could get into the finals but i was unsure on whether did we make any obvious mistakes or did we did well. But after the competition, after hearing the comments given by our cadet inspectors, teacher officers and the reserves of the squad, I felt quite relieved. Most of the comments were positive and even our cadet inspectors said that they were proud of us. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank all the cadet inspectors (Jon Sir,Haslam Sir,Wiky Sir,Ting Li Ma'am,Hwee Cheng Ma'am), teacher officers (Mr Loh,Ms Choo) and my squadmates (drill competition squad) for their support, pointers and trainings they spent on sacrificing their own free time to improve our foot drill standards and scoldings which kept me ongoing to improve on my drills.

It was really fun and hush experience. It was different from normal training. Usually we would do an 1hr drill before we do under stuff but for drill com training, we train the whole day. I really enjoyed it as it was the first time experiencing it. I myself love to challenge myself thus this competition really pump me up! At the end, all our training really paid off after hearing comments from our CI and other schools.

Road Marshall Duty 2013

Today road Marshaling duties were fun to the max. Especially when we get to make friends with the small kids from north spring primary school. Giving instructions and explaining rules to the kids were the best as we were able to tell them the safety rules and memorized them ourselves.

Today was very fun. I get to to experience what is the feeling that the traffic police out there experiencing. Ting Chung was my partner and we help the primary school kids all and most of them saw mingbin running just to help the kids to get to their destination despite the officer told us over and over again not to run. If theres is one more chance, i would go for it again.

AREA 7 Games Day 2013
The area 7 games day 2013 have allowed me to learn a lot of new things. Such as planning the things we need before hand, before it is too late. That is what happens back at NCHS. Things were not ready when the game was going to start. One more thing I have learnt is that being an OIC, I am just suppose to overlook the event and deploy people when things needed to be done. Overall everything went smoothly which I personally think some parts still can be improve.

Today, 13 july, was the Area 7 Games Day. Like a usual games day, it has many different schools and activities like captains ball, human fooseball, soccer and etc. But what made this games day special was it was only npcc area 7. I played captains ball and became the keeper. Being the keeper was quite boring as i had to stand on the chair for the whole games for 5 minutes. What made it worse was that the ball did not even come to me as my opponent, Nan Chiau High School, always had the ball. I have to say, playing with them was great fun and it was a challenge to my teammates as their player were all very tall and defensive. I was quite disappointed when we lose as we did not strategise our game very well. Although my team went home in disappointment as we were out after losing, we were proud of the other teams as they won.

When I knew we were going to National Police Annual Parade preview, I was excited and anxious to know how the event will run. When we reached HTA, I noticed how serious the people there are. As they started marching in, everyone quiet down and watched the parade participant. I was fascinated by how they marched in an orderly manner, their hands and legs were moving together in sequence. The music was played by the SPF band. As the parade started to form up, the commander marches in and gave different commands. The parade participants must have gone through much training to synchronies their movements.
For the post parade segments, there was performance put up by students from various schools. It was an event worth remembering.

NPAP Preview 2013 Reflection from sec 1 cadets
When I was in the bus, I was very excited to go to HTA. Bryna and I were singing out loud on the bus. As we reached Unity Square, we saw that the area was filled with hundreds of unfamiliar faces from different schools.
Before we settled down, we got our goodies. Once the parade started, the area became silent. All I could hear is the sound of the stomping on the floor. The people who were marching was so synchronized .It  is so interesting seeing the parade .During the parade, I could only spot Zafran sir holding the Greendale secondary flag .After the parade, there we some performance by cadets put up with cadets from various units. From this experience, I’ve learnt that we learn drill with a purpose especially so when we are representing our unit in such parade, we have to learn to work with cadets from all around Singapore and synchronized with each other.

When we alighted from the bus, we walked into Unity Square. My squadmates and I were awed by such grand event. The atmosphere was electric. As we were directed to our seats, some sirs and ma’ams approach us and passed us some goodie bags. As soon as we settle down, the parade started and the contingents started marching in. There were people wearing No. 1, some of them were holding school flag. All the parade participants look very smart. From this parade, I’ve learnt that, if we want to perform as well as them, we have to be synchronized and most importantly, we have a unite as a squad.

Inter Area Drill Competition 2012 Reflection
I have found good experience and learning point through drills competition that was held in Home Team Academy on 28 July 2012.

Before the preliminary round, we had to go through training where we were taught of some new drills. Even though we have to go through many hard and tiring training we still preserve.
We get scolded at times during training as we don’t seems to be able to get the drills right, honestly I felt irritated at times.

I am really happy too, to see my CIs Wiky Sir, Hwee Cheng Ma'am and Ting Li Ma'am always uses their free time to come down and guide us despite their busy schedule.
On the competition day when we arrive at Home Team Academy, we were very nervous. We got change into our full uniform and had our uniform check which is part of the component of drill competition.  When we were being called for us to do the drills, we march out to Unity square and as we march out we kept reminding each other about the posture.
During the competition, we did some mistake but still, we manage to complete the sequence smoothly.
Although we did not get into the final but we were not very upset because everyone know that they had put in their best.
Through this competition, I have learnt that in order to success we must have the team spirit and never give up.
Lastly, I would like to thank all my CI and NCO.

Unit Outing to Fort Canning Park 24/11/2012

Overall, I felt that the Unit Outing was enjoyable. There were interesting games like 'Balloon Train', 'Number Box' and the ever-popular 'Ice-breaker Charades' . The route was well planned as it takes less than five minutes to reach the next station.

I was the First-Aid IC for the Unit-Outing as well as a group leader in-charge of group 3.

When I was patrolling for my First-Aid duty, all i saw was smiles on the cadet's faces. Nothing was simply heart-warming than having an event where most of the participants enjoyed the Unit-Outing.

Nonetheless, the group was well splited. Whereby, there was a mixture of cadets from the various squads. This forms a time where all can bond with each other, regardless of any differences. This is very important as, it deepens the unrestricted relationship between the squad. Hence, this will definitely improve teamwork, and make NPCC more enjoyable, especially for the younger batch of cadets.

Red Cross Flag Day on 26/01/13

I've just attended Red Cross Flag Day and it was a great experience for me. I've learnt that there were many Singaporeans out there that are kind enough to donate some money to the needy. I hope that we will be able to experience this once more.
Zafran , Sec 3 Squad 2013

My experience during flag day was different from what you expected. The people were not as friendly as i thought but we managed to keep our smiles and be as friendly as possible. I had forged stronger bonds with my other squad mates who I was not close to. So in the end, i feel that the event today was a success to me.
Iqbal , Sec 3 Squad 2013

This was my first time helping out for the Red Cross Flag day. It was so tiring as we had to walk around Hougang area and asked the public to donate money for the needy. I've got rejected by some of them, while some pretended that they had not seen me. In that point of time, I felt like I was talking to myself. However, I managed to find some people who were very generous. I thank them and greeted them nicely after they had donated. Now, I know the feeling of being rejected, so whenever I see anybody who ask me for donation, I will help be very keen to help. Thank you!
Natalie , Sec 3 Squad 2013

I've learn that it is very hard to persuade people to donate money to the needy as the economy was on the verge of collapse. However I was happy because I had learn how to step out of my comfort zone and approach the people to donate money. It was quite fun yet a tiring job but I enjoyed it a lot.
Si Ling , Sec 3 Squad 2013

Today was my first time taking part in Red Cross Flag Day . It was a tiring yet an enjoyable day. We had to ask people to help to make donations. Some people was very helpful and friendly! These make me learn how to be patient with the public . Some of the people even ignored us and walked away, but I still continued to approach the public.  Thus, i feel that It was a very meaningful experience for us.
Edmund, Sec 3 Squad 2013

Through the experience in Red Cross Flag Day, I've learnt to step out of my comfort zone and interact with the strangers . However, I had faced some challenges like being rejected from donating money to the needy and people that just walked away. However, these obstacles did not put me down. This was a wonderful experience for me and  I really hope that next years will be much better.
Syafiq , Sec 3 Squad 2013

Today i had experienced in the Red Cross Flag Day, by going around shopping mall and asked people for donation, even though was tiring but was really interesting. We also met different kinds of people, some of them were selfish and some of them have the heart to help others. I hope that there will be another chance for us to do it again.
Sylvester, Sec 3 Squad 2013

Today,we had this event call Red Cross Flag Day. It was fun as we can get a chance to help the needy by asking the residents for donation. Guess what? I was so astounded that even young teenagers who were willing to make donations to help to help the needy. I hope my squad mates will learn something from this event and also hope we can have this event again .
Diayanah, Sec 3 Squad 2013

Today, we had Red Cross Flag Day and we volunteered to help. It was really a fun and wonderful experience for me. In another hand, I hoped that my squad mates had fun and also learn from it even though it was very tiring but it was very meaningful. I hope that there will be an activity like this in the future.
Estiara, Sec 3 Squad 2013

Today was the Red Cross flag day, it was my first time experiencing such an event. We had to ask for donations outside shopping malls, though it was very tiring but it was fun.I also experienced how people feel when the public just ignore us. Some people also asked us where we came from. Through this event, i felt that it was very meaningful and I hope that we can come back to do it again.
Darrell, Sec 3 Squad 2013

Today at the Red Cross Flag Day , it was fun . We ran around Hougang asking people to help to donate for the needy. There were many people who were generous and donated a lot for the needy . Although we were very tired , I hope we can help the Red Cross and take part in this kind of event again.
Bernice, Sec 3 Squad 2013

We had our Red Cross Flag Day today . We were helping the red cross to raise money for the needy. Many children donated as well. We ran around Hougang asking people to help us in donation . Many donated with a big smile and some passer-by helped donated even though they were in a rush . Through this meaningful event, I'm glad that i can also do a part in helping the needy.
Nabilah, Sec 3 Squad 2013

Through today's experience , I've learnt that asking for donations from the public is not as easy as it seems as I got rejected by a few people , but that did not pull my morale down. I hope that in future , there is more of such opportunities as it is very meaningful because not only I can help the disabled elderly but also boost my confidence to be able to speak up more often to strangers. Hence, if there is such an event again, it'll be great!
Yongquan, Sec 3 Squad 2013

From today's experience I have learnt the meaning of giving. When I was going around asking for donation, I bumped into lots of different kinds of people. There were people who donated generously and people who donate even though they had donated. However, there were hard times like getting rejected and ignored but I think it was a great opportunity for me to learn something from that event and I would wish to have more of this things
