28 December Weekly Training

Yesterday’s training was very memorable and special because of the events that happened yesterday. We started the training by recapping drills that we have learnt the past 7 months. Afterwards, we started to learn the new drills “Maju” and “Hentak Kaki Hentak” we continued to practice until we can execute the command without mistake. After the drill session, all of my squad mates are feeling tired and also mostly having muscle aches. Yu xin ma’am told us to change to PT kit, and at first we wanted 13 mins to change to PT kit, but Yu Xin ma’am gave us 9 mins 30 seconds. We managed to change out of uniform and into pt kit in 9 mins 9 sec even though given time was 9 mins 30 sec and it was amazing despite feeling very tired due to waking up early in the morning to go back to school after the long holidays and doing drills under the hot weather for 2 hours, we still had the energy to change really quick. For songs and cheers, we recapped Gako The Frog, My Side, Texas Star, Pearly Shells, Father Abraham, Purple Light, Flee Fly and Peace Like The River. During the songs and cheers session, we ran around the basketball court in the ISH sing Flee Fly. We also versed the CLs, seeing who could cheer “My Side” the loudest. The CLs and us made a deal, whoever loses, will have to do a forfeit. We won, so the CLs have to do a forfeit that we decided. After Songs and cheers, we had lunch and then campcraft where we recapped round lashing and learnt pegging. This campcraft session has bonded us sec 1 closer as this is the perfect opportunity to help out each other when we are facing trouble hitting in or taking out the pegs. For PT, instead of doing pumping, we ran around the school 5 times with the CLs and the sec 2 squad. During Debrief, we met an Honorable Officer, He introduced to us and we get to see the CLs doing group squad while shouting out “ I love my sec 1s” In conclusion, Holiday Trainings are usually long but amazing and rewarding. In this holiday training, I feel that we have bonded with our CLs more than normal trainings. We also get to recap a few things that we might have forgotten to prepare for the upcoming trainings and set a good impression on the new juniors. Christine 13th Batch

Friday’s training was tiring yet fun as we learnt a lot of new things. In the morning, we had a CSI activity planned for us to allow us to learn how to differentiate different types of blood flow such as passive flow, splatter and many more. We also learnt how to use the white powder and the magnetic powder and on which surface to use the correct surface. Next, we had our drill segment. We recapped most of our drills such as pacing and saluting while marching. After lunch, we had our campcraft segment. We recapped all of our stopper knots ,loops and bends. Next we had our songs and cheers. We also had a run around the school. After all of that, we had our debrief. Rebakah ma’am and Bryna ma’am talked about our timing of our drills, awareness, loudness ,decision making and many more. To sum up this train, I felt that there is a lot of areas of us to improve in.
