The CSI Training was a good opportunity for all of us to learn the types of knowledge the CSIs are required to have in order to investigate crime scenes. We learnt about the basic terms used such as Primary Scenes and Secondary Scenes. We started off with a lecture about identifying blood patterns, fingerprints, comparing DNA and the nature of crime scenes. We were able to use these skills to better understand how crimes are solved. We then moved onto extracting of evidence by attempting to brush and secure fingerprints off of objects. We then proceeded to the Forensics Suite where we had the chance to solve many different crime scenarios. My group was brought to a simulated burnt down bedroom and was tasked with finding out whether or not the crime was incidental or accidental. This task forced us to constantly think out of the box as there were many hidden pieces of evidence with some of it meant to mislead us into coming to a wrong conclusion. Overall, I found this training very beneficial for us as it enlightened us on the many different types of crimes committed around Singapore and how these cases are handled.

Today Crime Scene Investigation Course was indeed interesting and fruitful for all of us as this was the first time we experienced such activity. At first, we learnt about different types of extracting evidence from the Crime Scene, such as Fingerprints, DNA and Blood splatter pattern. This was indeed an eye-opening opportunity for us as not all of us such as the public members gets to experience such lesson. As we proceed to other practical activities, we got to experience how to use fingerprint to extract evidence, and had a hands-on experience. This was indeed fun and interesting for us as we managed to see how it was done and actually experienced it in real life other than watching on the television. Lastly, we proceed to the Forensic Suite where we get to act as investigators to solve what have actually happened to an accident, we coordinated ourselves as a team and managed to come up with ideas that was relevant and important to solve the case. At last, all of us managed to solve the case and was told about many interesting facts we did not know. Overall, this lesson was indeed fruitful and enriching as we learnt many things we did not know before, I would definitely encourage my Juniors to participate for this course.
