For today's Inter-Unit Drills Competition Finals, I was quite disappointed in myself as I know that I can do so much better than the final round. I've gained so much experience from this competition. During the finals, I saw how much my squad had grown: from a squad that doesn't know how to communicate with one another and now to a squad that incorporates teamwork and work well together. I've learnt a lot during past trainings such as the way I command, the way I execute my command and last but not least, having confidence in myself. I had always thought that being a squad commander was an easy job but little did I know that it's the hardest job because I had to be able to be alert to the surroundings and have a fast reaction. It's not that easy as we had to do a lot of improvisations on the spot and make sure that the squad does not exit the boundaries and cross over the obstacles. Trainings are tough but our hard work paid off. If I were to be given a choice to be part of drills competition again, I would as I've really learnt a lot from it.

The past few months of Drill Competition training was indeed hectic and tedious, we got to learn many new skills and gain experience with a new squad. At first we didn't really talk to one another. However, as time went by, we really got to bond together as a squad, incorporating new drills and timing into the trainings. We continue to support one another physically and mentally every training, helping one another by rectifying each other's mistake and suggesting ways improve ourselves. As our Drills Instructors mentioned that we are the cream of the crop, it reminded us about our importance in the unit, where pride and glory is bestowed upon each and every one of us. As we headed to the Unity Square on the competition day, we began to perform our drills sequence that we had practiced really hard for the past few months. As the squad timer, I had to give my fullest potential in everything I do, from timing loudly to controlling the pace of the squad. As we marched out from the Unity Square, I thought to myself that I would definitely miss this wonderful experience and the memories made with my fellow squadmates and I hope to have one more chance to perform together again. Thankfully, as we heard that we emerged as one of the Top 10 Finalist, happiness and thrill shone onto our face proudly as we hadcreated a legacy in Greendale Secondary School. As we began training intensively for the finals with the newly introduced rifle drills, we were all tirelessly giving our very best. Finally, the day of the finals had came, pride and glory bestowed on our faces as we march in to the Unity Square to perform the drill sequence for the very last time. Although we did some mistakes here and there, we continued to give in our very best and tried to make as little mistakes as possible. For the finals, our school emerged as the 8th position out of the 10 finalists and we were really proud of ourselves as we have brought glory to the unit. IUDC was indeed a really enriching and interesting experience for all of us that have participated in it. For most of us, it was an experience that we would definitely not forget. I would definitely miss the bond and the times that we had together as a squad. Overall, IUDC was indeed a memorable, awesome and enriching experience for all of us. We hope to inspire our juniors to follow our footsteps to bring pride and glory to the unit.
