PYA was a great experience as we had the opportunity to raise awareness to more people about the various thefts. Most of them did not know what was going on in Singapore but after we told them, they did. During the PYA, I felt like we had bonded more with the cadet leaders as well as the Sec 1s. PYA also boosted my confidence to talk to people and to not be afraid to speak to the general public. Although we were rejected, it was still a fun experience. If there were more activities like this, I would definitely join again. -Denese Ong (11th Batch)

To me, PYA was okay. At first, it was very awkward because I was not used to talking to stangers. From time to time, as I talked to the public to raise awareness about the ways to prevent theft, I slowly gained confidence. At the end of the event, I found that PYA was very fun. Although I was rejected a lot of times, I tried my best to recover my courage and interact with the public. -Yiyan (12th Batch)

I think PYA, overall, was great exposure for me as not only an NPCC cadet, but also a police youth ambassador. Being an ambassador, I represented the police force. I noticed that when many young kids saw me, they straight away assumed that I was some sort of officer. This made me realise how important my role was as a cadet as there were probably little children looking up to us and thinking 'I want to be like him/her one day'. Thus, I realised the importance of being a good role model. I will admit that I am not perfect and that I still have my flaws but I am working towards becoming a better cadet and youth ambassador. PYA was quite short but I still feel like it made more of an impact on me than it did for others. There were many people who were intimidated by us and already aware of the information that we shared with them. Thus I feel like the overall experience was redundant for the residents of Punggol but I understand that several improvements have been made from the last trip. -Jaslyn Cheang (10th Batch)
