At SCDF Tampines, we get to learn about the "triangle of life" skills which includes three skills such as basic firefighting, basic first aid and CPR-AED. As part of the basic firefighting, we learnt about the P.A.S.S (Press, aim, squeeze, sweep) for operating a fire extinguisher. For basic first aid, we learnt about Press, tie, tell and how to treat the wounds of a casualty while waiting for help to arrive. We practiced CPR and learn to operate an AED. We got to know more about Run, Hide, Tell whenever there is a terrorist attack and got to understand more of the three pillars of SGsecure which is "vigilance, resilience, cohesion". We learnt the differences between emergency injuries and non-emergency injuries and how to react during those situations. After that, we were given a test to see if we understood about CEPP. Overall, the experience was fun and we all got to get a better understanding about SGSecure and how to handle emergencies.

I have learn many valuable skills during this course and what SG secure really means; How can people like me help the society to be safer. We learn the triangle of life (basic first Aid, basic fighter and CPR + AED) and many life saving tips and advice on what action we should take when we encounter such emergency situation. The CPR activity was the most interesting part of the day as it was my first time trying it .It was tough in the beginning but i managed to get help from my squad mates. I am grateful that I am able to participate in this course as I have learn many skills and advice. We also tried putting out the fire using the acronym PASS. I hope that there will be more courses like this for me to join in the future.
