Drill Competition 2016
Drills Competition was very intense. As we only had three trainings so I thought it was impossible. Each trainings, I've learnt tips on improving the drills. I also learnt new advance drill such as 'tukar haluan'.Sir once asked us, which position we aim to get, a lot thought we will get the 2nd last. I got to bond with my column mates, Shamaine and Hiew Teng, and we always communicate about our dressing, turning and even our uniform. We observed each other’s mistake and we correct one another. On the competition day itself which was held at Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School, I was very nervous. I was very proud of my uniform as I prepared it for quite a few hours the day before. Seeing other schools and some of their mistakes, It made me extra nervous. I asked myself, what if I screw up? I will jeopardize the whole showcase. During the showcase, I did a mistake and quickly recover. I was very thankful of Shamaine when she said 'it’s okay just recover' which calmed me a bit. A lot of them sigh when they did a mistake. I was very proud of Hiew Teng as she did her best, even though she felt very nervous. I was also very proud of the squad for doing a good job during 'tukar haluan'. I think it really impressed the judges. Despite all the mistakes, I was impressed to see everyone marching together as one as if there are no mistakes. Squad commander Rebekah and timer which Is Ain, have a loud command and consistent timing. Rebekah's loud command had help me overcome my fear and Ain's consistent timing had help our squad to march in unison. We managed to get 2nd place! I was very surprised and happy. It was unexpected as we thought we did mistakes. I would like to thank my Column mates, Rebekah, Ain and the CIs for helping us to clench 2nd place. In a nutshell, hard work and teamwork is very important. Without that, we could not achieve 2nd position. As I mentioned before, we thought we will get 2nd last, but now, we got 2nd.It is all about our positive mindset and thinking that the impossible is possible.

From this for drills competition , I've learnt a lot of new drills that I haven’t learnt before and I get to work with my senior and be able to synchronize with them while we're marching, which I think is a very rare chance to work with them. Although I made a lot of mistakes, but the squad didn't blame me but instead, they help me to improve on my drills and encourage me not to give up and practice more. I can bond with my seniors and squad mates as we need to communicate with each other. I really enjoyed this drills competition as I am able to learn a lot values from it some of the example are teamwork and determination. I hope that there will still be competition like this in future.
