Air Rifle 2016

I am glad that I was given the opportunity to go for the Air Rifle competition. To me, I felt that this gave me a unique experience and I am also thankful that I have participate in this. Through this event, I was able to learn new things. The moment I stepped into their school, I witness many other participants from various schools. Upon registering with my team, I felt very nervous even though it’s not our turn yet.

During the waiting time, I kept telling myself “I can do this!”, also my teammates kept encouraging one another and that made me feel at ease as I know that we had each other’s back. When the time came, I tried to relax myself so that I will be able to do well for the competition. Prior to entering the shooting range, we give each other encouragements so that we will not be nervous.

Upon carrying the Air Rifle, it felt extremely heavy and I had to use all my strength to gain control of the Air Rifle. Initially, I didn’t manage to hit any of the target for my first shot. Overtime, my shots got better and better as I focus on staying calm and maintaining my breath to the appropriate level such that the Air Rifle will remain steady, allowing me to shoot well.

Once the time is up, all of us gave each other high-fives as we completed the competition as well as exchanging advice with the Boys team. Overall, I feel that this competition was a great opportunity for all of us to experience something different and new.

I felt that I could have done so much better. The trick was not to be nervous as well as resting our arms before shooting each bullet. Initially, I thought that the 25 minutes given to us was very short. Therefore, I felt nervous as I was uncertain of how much time I have left, which caused me to panic. As a result, I accidentally shot the ground and from then on, I remind myself to be more cautious. Thereafter, I managed to shoot the bull’s eye and realized that actually we had a lot of time.

In a nutshell, this was certainly a great experience and I definitely hope to participate in this Air Rifle event again.
